Froboese named team MVP at boys cross-country awards ceremony

Fallbrook High School’s boys cross-country team held its post-season awards ceremony Nov. 26 at the Bob Burton Performing Arts Center, and senior Connor Froboese received the team’s Most Valuable Player award.

“Really truly deserved it this year,” said Fallbrook head coach Marco Arias. “He really took charge of the team.”

The Most Improved selection was sophomore Elijah Roque. “Last year he was thrust into the varsity role because of need,” Arias said. “This year he came into his own.”

Senior Brian Person’s final action as a member of the Fallbrook High School cross-country team was receiving the Most Inspirational award. “Really a great person. Great attitude,” Arias said. “Very well-liked.”

The Team Captain award was designated following the season, and that was given to senior Joe Calescibetta. “Joe really brought those guys together and led them through a difficult season but nevertheless made the most of it,” Arias said.

The junior varsity’s Most Valuable Player award was presented to sophomore John Pease. “He really ran well all season,” Arias said.

Freshman Wade Leehey was the junior varsity’s Most Improved selection. “He’s going to become a runner in his own right,” Arias said.

The awards ceremony also included a highlight video, and Arias spoke about each of the athletes. “It went pretty well. Kids had an enjoyable time,” he said. “We all had a good time.”
