Girls lacrosse devours Wolverines

The Wolverines from Westview came to Fallbrook High to play in the varsity girls lacrosse match Friday, May 6, at dusk. The Wolverines arrived 15 minutes prior to the match in order to leave some time for practice, but the Warriors jumped out to an early lead ten minutes into the match, when the first goal was scored by Courtney Freaney. Soon after, the Warriors took the ball downfield to score their second goal, this one coming from Angie Scoma. The Wolverines responded by performing a pass play route that turned into a first goal for the Wolverines.

Shortly after their first goal, the Wolverines came back with the ball to score their next and last goal before halftime. Their comeback was brief and was offset by Fallbrook forward Nicole Cook making the goal that sealed the score 3-2 going into halftime.

Returning to play in the second half, Warrior Nicole Cook jumped in again to make her second goal of the game, followed closely by Angie Scoma, who also scored her second.

The Wolverines did get some help from their forwards, who scored two goals during the last half and finished the match with four points.

The sixth and seventh final goals of the match were executed by Warriors Nicole Cook and Lauren Woods. Woods had the cinching goal, which assured the Warriors their victory over Westview. Fallbrook devoured the Wolverines 7-4.
