Girls soccer faces Vista Panthers

Girls JV soccer

Last Tuesday the JV girls soccer team went up against the Vista Panthers in hopes of adding another win under their belt. Their match began with Vista taking control for the first few minutes, but they were unable to take any shots on goal. The Warriors then took their first shot, which went wide to the left, and Vista followed with two shots that barely missed the net. Vista spent the majority of the first half controlling the ball, getting most of the possessions before halftime. The Warriors missed a chance to score with a shot that reflected off the goalpost.

After the first half, the game settled down and Fallbrook took four shots that were deflected by Vista’s goalkeeper. Vista took seven good shots throughout the game and rivaled alongside the Warriors, who had taken eight shots with one unbelievable close miss. There were many close shots, but no goals during the freshman game, which ended in a tie, 0-0.

Girls’ varsity soccer

Vista’s varsity squad came onto the field with their game faces on, not knowing what was to happen and not expecting the Warrior girls to play the way they did. Ten minutes lapsed and three goals were scored by the Warriors, two of them up-close shots and the third passed across the net and eased into the goal. Vista’s Panthers had a chance when they were given a penalty shot, but the shot was straightforward and blocked by the keeper. The Warriors ran the ball downfield twice and evaded the defenders both times, scoring two more. After resting at halftime, the Warriors continued their aggressive game as though there was still a chance to lose. Two more Warrior attacks were finished with goals unblocked by Vista’s goalkeeper. One corner kick the Warriors made dropped in front of the goalie and was finished into the net by the Warriors’ offense. Fallbrook took 13 shots while Vista took four. The final score was 8-0, with Fallbrook shutting out the Vista Panthers.
