Jerry Brown chases Younger Gang during History Channel filming

Rainbow’s Jerry Brown went to Paramount Ranch May 27 as part of the filming of a future History Channel segment on the Younger Gang.

Brown was accompanied by his horse, Bud. He dressed as a townsman who became a posse member. “I actually have a Derby hat on instead of a Western hat,” Brown noted.

The trip to the Paramount Ranch was the second for Brown, whose previous filming had been for a segment on the OK Corral. “We had to get up like at 3:00 in the morning here,” Brown remarked. “They want you on the set at seven.”

Brown was one of four members of the posse who galloped up a trail in search of the Younger gang. That afternoon activity included the use of radios for the director to make contact with the riders. The shootout scenes, which were filmed in the morning, also included some modern technology.

“It was interesting to me because I was using a rifle that had a mini-camera mounted over the action,” Brown noted. “You can look down the barrel and see where you’re aiming it.”

The Younger Gang segment will be used on a future episode of “Wild West Tech.” Brown had appeared on “Wild West Tech” segments last year but made his 2005 debut at the Paramount Ranch.

“The Wild West Tech stuff for us is a lot of fun,” Brown said.
