New girls softball league forming

FALLBROOK — Patti (Pearson) Drew and Shannon (Fitzgerald) Koran are forming the Fallbrook Girls Softball League (FGSL) at Ingold Sports Park. “Our goal in forming FGSL is not only to create a well-organized, competitive youth softball league for girls in our community but to become a kind of feeder program for our local high school,” said Koran. “Patti and I grew up playing softball in this town and are proud members of the only CIF Softball Championship team Fallbrook High claims. We would like to establish, and build, the kind of program that will help make future championships possible.”

Organizers expect to have 10 to 12 teams in five age divisions (ages 5-14). Opening day is scheduled for March 5 and the season is expected to run through May 21.
