Elijah Roque, Connor Froboese, and Sam Comerford continue to lead the Fallbrook High School boys cross-country team.
The three earned medals at the Sept. 22 Dana Hills Invitational meet whose competitors included 21 Fallbrook boys. Roque was 14th among the 119 sophomore race competitors; Froboese placed 17th among the 203 senior boys, and Comerford took 23rd place in the 332-runner freshman race.
“It went pretty well,” said Fallbrook coach Marco Arias.
Roque, who did not run the Dana Hills meet last year when he was a freshman, had a time of 16:05 on the 5,000-meter (3.1-mile) course. He was one of two Fallbrook sophomores in his race.
Froboese’s time of 15:53 set a course personal record by 15 seconds. Fallbrook’s other senior, Joe Calescibetta, placed 107th with a time of 17:11.
Fallbrook had 11 freshmen runners. Comerford posted a time of 17:17. Although only the first 50 finishers in each race medaled, two other Warriors finished in the top half of the freshmen race. Andrew Ross placed 75th with a time of 18:26 while Antonio Lopez took 115th place after completing the course in 19:17.
Six Warriors competed in the junior race. The only one to finish in the top half of the field was Alex Contreras, whose time of 17:53 gave him 102nd place among the 230 junior runners.
“I’m very pleased with where they finished,” Arias said of his team. “I think they’re coming together.”
