Varsity baseball beats El Capitan

Last Tuesday, El Capitan came to Fallbrook to play in the Hilltop Tournament. The El Capitan Cowboys were the first up to bat. The Warriors’ pitcher for this game was Aaron Larsen. In the first inning, there was one out and the second Cowboys hitter, Louie Russo, hit a solo homerun to score one for the Cowboys. The next hitter drove a base hit into right field. The Cowboys’ next hitter was struck out. Josh Walston’s hit was next and he hit a homerun with one man on. The next Cowboy was struck out and the Warriors were up to bat.

In the second inning, Fallbrook’s Mike Leake and Eric Castro hit back-to-back homeruns; the Warriors were behind by one run. In the second inning El Capitan had no runs scored. The Warriors’ David Plante hit a homerun over center field, and the two runners on bags scored as well to put the Warriors in the lead 6-3. El Capitan’s Josh Walston hit a great homerun for the Cowboys, raising their score to 6-4. The Warriors extended their lead when, in the bottom of the fourth, Warrior Zane Chavez hit a homerun with two men on base, resulting in three runs scoring.

The final score of the game versus El Capitan halted at 9-4. The win that happened with the Cowboys makes the Warriors’ home field record 1-1, with the loss to Escondido.
