Warriors tomahawk Chiefs 43-35

The Clairemont Chiefs were outplayed by the Warriors in junior varsity and varsity play. The Chiefs’ Alex McCarthy played in two games, both junior varsity and varsity. Alex shot fantastically from the line, consistently making his first six out of eight free throws. Alex and the Junior Varsity Chiefs rested through half time with a lead of 22 to 20. The Warriors then sprinted ahead to snatch the lead 33 to 26. The Warriors finished off the J.V. chiefs in the last minute of the fourth quarter and the Warriors won.

Warrior varsity star #21 M. Bresnahan played a superb game and was the top scorer, just breaking the 20 points mark. He got the crowd on their feet repeatedly when he sank five sweet three point shots, and later continued to make lay-ups. After the fourth quarter clock sounded, the Warriors had attained another victory. This time the Warriors overwhelmed their opponent 43 to 35.

Chiefs Coach Keiser commented on his varsity loss, “We had fun coming up here and playing Fallbrook. Fallbrook played hard and the coaching staff really gets the kids working, doing a great job here of course. I would have liked to win, but our kids never gave up, we played hard all the way to the end, and we took some positive things out of it. It’s good for us to play tough teams like this.” Keiser’s Chiefs record is 5 wins and 10 losses.

Varsity Coach West regarded his team as playing well, he said, “We played in spurts. We played pretty well for the spurts of the game where we got some steals, played hard, transitioned up and down the court and made shots, and then we had spurts where we turned the ball over quite a bit.”

The Warrior team stands with 11 wins and 4 losses and will be paired with a tough Rancho Bernardo team this Friday on the home court.
