A black Dodge Charger burst into flames Thursday afternoon on Interstate 15 Northbound, causing a significant traffic disruption near Fallbrook northbound near Mission Rd. The California Highway Patrol reported the vehicle fire at approximately 2:40 p.m. local time. At about 7:30 this morning Fallbrook Sheriffs responded to a commercial burglary call at 1032 S. Main Ave at Fallbrook Guns and Ammo. Upon arrival it appears a car smashed into the back of the building but Sheriffs didn't find the driver or anyone inside. On Friday, June 7, the Sheriff received a call for a prowler on Calle de la Paloma. According to Lt. Fox in the Sheriff's Media Center, the person was transported for mental health issues after being assessed by NCFPD personnel. A dozen official and undercover vehicles descended into the 400 block of Aviation Rd in Fallbrook in the early morning Tuesday, May 28. One person who was removed from the home during the raid reported that one man was arrested. He said it was a complete surprise to the family and people living in the home, but one person is accused of downloading inappropriate images and videos. Fallbrook resident and motorcycle racer Megan Vilardi Johnson, age 40, tragically lost her life in a motorcycle accident on Sunday evening, May 19, 2024. North County Fire Protection District responded to a car and vegetation fire that was reported at 2:46 pm on Tuesday, 5/21. The car was fully engulfed on the southbound Mission Rd offramp. Multiple units responded and the incident was closed out at 3:48 pm. Firefighters were able to contain the fire to the car and keep it from burning very much vegetation. No injuries were reported. Sheriffs have arrested a suspected arsonist in Fallbrook near Pala Mesa Golf Course. Fallbrook Sheriffs and North County Fire responded to a call that a suspected arsonist was setting fires in Fallbrook near Hwy 395 and Reche Rd. UPDATE: The pursuit has ended. The suspect has evaded law enforcement. The suspect is Joey Oross, age 43, from Vista. He has a felony warrant for his arrest on a narcotics related charge, according to SDSO Lt. Davis. The charges appear to stem from charges related to the possession of methamphetamines for sale.
