The Medical Examiner's Office today positively identified Douglas Hardy, 38, of Escondido, as the victim in the murder that took place Friday, 2/10/24 in Fallbrook at the Econolodge. The Medical Examiner's office determined from the preliminary results that the cause of death was blunt force trauma and the manner of death was a homicide. There were no reported injuries when a car crashed through the windows and doors of Anytime Fitness, at 855 S. Main Ave in Fallbrook. The car stopped several feet inside the building. A Mazda CX-7 automobile was fully engulfed by fire this morning, Sunday, Jan. 28, on the Mission Rd northbound entrance to the I-15. The vehicle was fully engulfed. There was a fire reported at the old El Jardin restaurant property, 1561 S. Mission at 5:02 pm tonight. North County firefighters arrived on the scene to find the vegetation on fire outside the building. Deputies stated that it was more than likely started from a transient. The driver of the VW, Patricia, had just left Rite Aid pharmacy and was headed home when the accident happened. Patricia is still in the trauma ICU unit and was undergoing surgery on both legs with multiple fractures. She underwent surgery on her left arm as there was deep lacerations. “The doctors agree the only reason she survived is due to the safety features of her car and that she was properly wearing her seatbelt low on the hips and positioned on her mid shoulder.”-text... At 7:25 am this morning, an accident occurred between a motorcyclist and a person driving a red SUV on E. Mission near Orange Ave. According to NCFPD PIO John Choi said that the motorcyclist sustained injuries to his leg and was transported to Inland Valley Hospital with moderate injuries.... Full story

Daniel Beatty, 56, from Fallbrook, was arrested today on charges relating to vandalism and narcotics. Sheriff's deputies responded to a Vandalism call in the 1400 block of S. Mission Rd at 8:40 am. Upon arrival, sheriffs observed broken night lights, multiple plants pulled out of the landscaping and thrown around, and a water spigot that had been broken off. This morning at 10:31 am, May 1, there was a medical emergency call on S. Main Ave and Ash St. There was a man who appeared to be unconscious and possibly homeless, according to witnesses on the scene. There was also a small dog which appeared to have a rope too tightly around it's neck. Around 2 pm today, February 15, six Sheriff's cars were combing downtown for a suspect who was called in as waving a shovel in a threatening manner. The call was a 417 DISPLAY OF WEAPON IN A THREATENING MANNER near N. Vine St and E. Ivy.
