The incident commenced around 1 a.m. when a motorist reported being carjacked at gunpoint in Hemet, as per the California Highway Patrol.     Manuel Leon, a 27-year-old construction worker from Fallbrook, husband, and father of three (wife is expecting in May), tragically lost his life in a hit-and-run incident while working as a traffic stop controller in Valley Center on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).     UPDATE: A Fallbrook man, Chase Trulove, 18, was one of the two men arrested for the Escondido carjacking that ended in Fallbrook on Saturday, sending one woman to the hospital. Trulove was arrested on charges including carjacking, conspiracy, hit and run, and evading police.   • North County Fire extinguishes raging truck fire in De Luz

    This morning, April 11th, at approximately 10:12 a.m. North County Fire received a call for a truck that exploded and caught fire while driving south on De Luz Rd. Officials on the scene have contained the situation but all traffic has been stopped at De Luz and Patton Oak Rd. so Adams' Tow could move through and clear out the charred remains of the truck.     CHP arrested and booked John Gleason, 69, from Fallbrook for a DUI just after midnight this morning, April 7. His blood/alcohol level was reported to be .08 percent.     Two car chases were reported tonight. This is an early version story. There was a report to CHP at about 10:09 pm tonight, Friday, 04/05/24. A BMW and a blue truck were reported to be chasing each other. One of them was struck and on the right hand shoulder of the eastbound lanes on Sr76 near S.Mission Rd and just east of Thoroughbred.     UPDATE: According to NCFPD PIO John Choi, The BMW was found. It traveled about 30 feet down the embankment. The occupant/occupants were able to self extricate and were found standing by the side of the road. Unverified whether there were one or two occupants. No injuries were reported. Carmen saw the reported missing woman as she was opening the door at a local eye doctor and was able to recognize her by the description given by SD Sheriff Helicopter.
