OCEANSIDE (CNS) - A 21-acre vegetation fire which began Sunday afternoon and caused minor damage to one home has been 100% contained, the Oceanside Fire Department said today. A fire crew continued to patrol the fire for 24 hours after the initial start at 2:23 p.m. Sunday on the edge of a marshy wetland known as Talone Lake, said OFD Battalion Chief Jon Regner. According to NCFPD PIO John Choi, a homeowner took quick action this morning when his home on El Nido Dr. caught fire at 8 am. The homeowner utilized a fire extinguisher, said Choi. The fire had the potential to spread, but the fast-acting resident was able to extinguish it with the fire extinguisher, assuring it did not spread, according to Choi. Several juveniles were involved in a rollover on June 21, at 1:17 am Wednesday morning. Sheriff and North County Fire responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call in Bonsall at about 7 pm tonight, June 19, 2023, according to SDSO Lt. Pepin. Danny Franger, a man who was living in his motorhome in the middle of Fallbrook, died last week. It is unverified by Village News, but it was reported that Franger passed away in the hospital from a heart attack last Wednesday.
