  • Ballroom dancing not just for the young

    Updated Jan 15, 2009

Our newly published Winter/Spring Activity Brochure was recently distributed as an insert in the Village News. An unfortunate typographical error in the Ballroom Dance write-up has been pointed out to us. The next to last line in the description states the class age limit as 15 to 45, which is wrong. The correct age limit is 15 years and older. Our apologies; we have no intention of being ageist about Ballroom Dance. We proofed our copy several times before printing and did not catch this mistake. Please come on down and...

  • I appreciate the update

    Updated Jan 15, 2009

Thank you for printing the article “A mother says ‘thank you.’” I was the first person on the scene of the accident, along with another woman who tried to help me get Jeannie out from under the car. We eventually got her out after two more gentlemen showed up. Unfortunately I didn’t get the names of any of the other people who helped out. It was a relief to find out that Jeannie survived the accident. I wrote a letter to her mother today letting her know that I appreciate the information on her son and daughter. Thanks ag... Full story

  • AMVETS donation stolen

    Updated Jan 15, 2009

After cleaning out a few closets after Christmas, I called AMVETS to schedule a pickup of our unwanted household items. We placed the items in bags, marked them for pickup as directed and left them at the bottom of our driveway on the morning of our scheduled pickup. The phone rang later that day. It was the driver for AMVETS looking for our donations. My husband had told him the marked bags were there at the base of the drive. The driver said there was nothing there! Someone had stolen our donation bags from our driveway. I...

  • Hoping wellbeing rises over misery and turmoil

    Updated Jan 15, 2009

With regard to “A solution for the Middle East,” the ancient hillsides and pastures between Mesopotamia and Egypt have been called home by many over the millennia and turning back the clock to any particular point in time will never achieve a consensus for peace within today’s context. The British Empire’s might realigned a lot of areas in relatively recent times, including large parts of North America, but the fact remains that Palestinians have origins and aptitudes that are virtually indivisible from the Israelis. The pro...

Yes, a four-lane conventional highway expandable to six lanes in the future is a welcome improvement to a highway noted for its high number of fatalities. Of the two alternative routes proposed...
