At approximately 12:35 p.m. today (Friday, Jan. 15), a hit and run driver took out the fire hydrant on the southwest corner of Ammunition and S. Mission roads, across from Starbucks. Fallbrook High School's girls water polo team improved its season record to 8-2 by finishing second in the Winter Classic tournament. The Warriors' loss in the championship match followed four wins in the Dec. 14-19 tournament hosted by Valhalla High School. Fallbrook High School's girls volleyball team held its post-season banquet Nov. 30 at United Methodist Church of Fallbrook. "It was great," said Fallbrook varsity coach Chip Patterson. SAN DIEGO - The poverty rate in San Diego County is increasing, and pockets of concentrated poverty are growing outside of urban areas, according to a study released today by the National University System Institute for Policy Research. Using U.S. census data, the institute took figures from the period covered by the 2010-14 American Community Survey, and compared them to 2000.
