  • Learn about DIY home security

    Updated Jan 20, 2020

FALLBROOK – Homes are a safe haven and comfortable retreat for individuals and families. Home invasions can compromise that feeling of safety and security, making people feel uncomfortable and unsafe in their own homes. Although the FBI Uniform Crime Reporting Statistics indicate property crime rates have seen a significant decline in the last few years, there are still roughly 2.5 million burglaries a year, 66% of which involve home break-ins. Break-ins are 6% more likely to occur between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m., when people are o...

  • Three factors to consider when choosing a mortgage lender

    Updated Jan 20, 2020

FALLBROOK – A home is the most significant purchase many people will ever make. Perhaps because of that, many buyers, particularly those purchasing a home for the first time, are understandably nervous about the home-buying process. The decision regarding which home to buy warrants ample consideration, but so, too, does the buyers’ choice of lender. Mortgage lenders can be found all over the internet and the sheer volume of lender options can make it hard for homebuyers to find the right fit for them. Couple that with len...

A record number of fitness-seeking ladies showed up at the Fallbrook Community Center Monday, Jan. 6, which is Twelfth Night, for Ann Wade’s “Fitness Fusion” class and all thoroughly enjoyed the fun social hour after a two-week holiday break. I think all 24 attendees congratulated ourselves on making regular attendance at this fun class one of our most important New Year’s resolutions. As always, Ann had lots of encouraging words for us to digest as we worked our way through dance routines and exercises. A suggestion that pa... Full story

  • Shower or laundry?

    Assemblymember Marie Waldron|Updated Jan 20, 2020

AD-75 (R) In 2018 former Gov. Jerry Brown signed two bills which will have a major impact on water use in our state. Assembly Bill 1668 and Senate Bill 606, which I opposed, created stringent water use mandates for all Californians. One regulation involves a 55 gallon per day indoor water use limit. Contrary to some news reports, it is not an individual mandate. No one will be told they can’t take a shower or do laundry on the same day. The 55-gallon mandate requires water s... Full story

  • Don't play the waiting game

    Updated Jan 20, 2020

We all know it. We all do it. Almost every day. “No!” you say? Ha! Recently you and I waited for Santa Claus. “No!” again? You’re joshing me! Have you forgotten him? Deleted Santa from your “friends” list? Why, would you do such a naughty thing? OK. I know. Your computer crashed and hasn’t recovered its little “ones” and “zeros” yet. “No!” a third time? Ahhh. Now I have it. You grew up. Well, I have just one word for you: “Bal-der-dash!” with a capital “B” that rhymes with “me.” And Santa? I know him personally. Every yea...

  • Re: 'Pro-Life is a killer'[Village News, Terrell Letter, 1/9/20]

    Updated Jan 20, 2020

This is my last rebuttal to this issue as it has become tired now and it's time to move on to more important issues like the Dog & Pony show over a fake impeachment proceeding. 1. While the CDC website is an interesting read on the subject it is not a good case for abortion. Read for yourself. They also factor in SID babies who are born just fine, so the numbers are skewed. 2. & 3. I witnessed the interview with Margaret Sanger's son and believe what he states...why would he lie? So calling it false doesn't make it so. Eugeni...

    Supervisor Jim Desmond|Updated Jan 20, 2020

Fifth District This past Friday, common sense went out the window. At a meeting to determine the future of transportation dollars, the SANDAG Board of Directors voted to allocate $90 million for bike lanes in San Diego County. While I like bikes, most people use them recreationally. Despite less than 1% of San Diegans using bikes as their primary transportation, bike lanes are being built around San Diego County at $5.5 million per mile! Meanwhile, we’ve been told by S...

  • Use love to help a sick child feel better

    American Counseling Association|Updated Jan 18, 2020

Ah, ‘tis the season for many households to find themselves with one or more children suffering from a cold or the flu. Damp, chilly weather and all that contact with other sniffling children at school almost guarantees that winter illness will strike most homes. Most people are well aware of the medical steps to help their child get better, or at least feel better, but they sometimes forget there are emotional things they can do to help their child, too. That can be important because children often feel bad about feeling b...
