  • Neighbors, Sprint-Nextel to devastate Camino Del Rey hillside with cell tower

    Updated Jan 26, 2006

Rex and Connie Gordon of Bonsall have contracted with Sprint-Nextel to devastate the aesthetics of our property and community by installing a cell tower and wireless maintenance communication facility. The Gordons are conveniently installing this atrocity in the upper back section of their property, which has no impact on their view yet devastates our front yard’s primary westerly view! Doesn’t everyone desire to have neighbors like these? I am a licensed real estate agent and am confident that no one moves to Bonsall to hav...

  • There are consequences to everything you do

    Updated Jan 26, 2006

Her parents spent their last Christmas with her not knowing it was her last Christmas. Could they — would they — should they have done something different? They will never see their baby girl graduate high school, they will never get to send her off to college, they will never get to meet ‘the one,’ her dad will never get to walk her down the aisle and give her to the man who is going to take care of her for the rest of her life. They will never get the call that they are going to be grandparents, they will never get to stand...

  • The lies we bought are still being sold

    Updated Jan 26, 2006

History sometimes becomes what liars write, or what witnesses simply fail to report. Many polemicists attempt to rewrite history to make it fit their own agenda. Rulers, nations and cultures have done so throughout history, but almost always the truth comes out, even if decades, or even centuries, later. Fortunately, in this age of Google, it is much easier to expose untruths such as those written by Dr. Paul Kengor in his column in the Village News (1/26/06) entitled “Yes, I admit I hate Bush.” One central statement by Ken...

    Updated Jan 26, 2006

As a Black Conservative author of “It’s OK to Leave the Plantation” I understand why Hillary Clinton used the plantation in a recent speech. Hillary Clinton’s use of the word “plantation” was appropriate for the democratic Senator from New York. As a member of the Democratic Party, Clinton is an expert on plantation management and the plantation Mentality. It was the Democratic Party that fought to keep slavery legal, supported the south during the civil war and supported the formation of the Klan. It was the Democratic... Full story

  • RE: 'Chronicles of Narnia' unsettling

    Updated Jan 26, 2006

Can you say “Woooah?” And yes, to answer your question, you are alone in seeing it. I honestly have no idea what you are trying to say. Are you a Christian? Are you a Jew, an Atheist? Please tell me, because you lost me. I went to see “The Chronicles of Narnia” today, because I was shocked and thrilled at how “unsettling” this film was to some and how its critic in last week’s Village News opinion page has unsettled me. Trust me, I doubt that anything is “purposely out of place” in this movie in a world that no longer ac...

In the end it was determined that Julia Charter School (JCS) would take over the BCAL campus. JCS began its spring semester on...

  • Why is it?

    Updated Jan 26, 2006

Why is it that Rainbow Water Municipal District (RMWD) board members take so much heat when the public wants leaders who are problem-solvers, not partisans? It’s one thing to waffle, straddle or flip-flop and delay; most politicians do that at one time or another. But being an RMWD board member is not being a politician so much as it is being a responsible leader looking at options to solve local problems. Developing and articulating strategic master plans to ensure reliable water and sewer systems, fund capital improvement p...
