  • Drug Trafficker Gets 14 Years Behind Bars

    RIVERSIDE - A man who ran a drug ring in Riverside and San Bernardino counties that authorities said distributed large quantities of heroin was sentenced today to 14 years in federal prison. Salvador Gonzalez-Chavez, 32, of Fontana operated a trafficking network comprised of at least 19 people who brought illegal drugs from Mexico for sale throughout the Inland Empire, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.     RIVERSIDE - More than 500 students from 26 high schools in Riverside County will take on the roles of prosecutors and defense attorneys Wednesday for the start of the 30th annual county Mock Trial Competition.     RIVERSIDE - Despite one board member's questions about its justification, Riverside County supervisors today approved doubling the fee charged for filing a variety of real estate documents to raise revenue for anti- fraud investigations and prosecutions.   • Over 900 customers lose power in SDG&E outage

    A power outage in the San Diego Gas & Electric system left about 908 Fallbrook customers without power this afternoon (Tues., Feb. 5). The power went out at approximately 1:47 p.m. According to SDG&E media spokesperson Gina Jacobs, power was restored to half of the customers at around 2:26 p.m., while the remainder went without power until 3 p.m. Jacobs did not have a specific reason for the outage.
