  • Victim and cause of death identified in gruesome killing

    The Medical Examiner's Office today positively identified Douglas Hardy, 38, of Escondido, as the victim in the murder that took place Friday, 2/10/24 in Fallbrook at the Econolodge. The Medical Examiner's office determined from the preliminary results that the cause of death was blunt force trauma and the manner of death was a homicide. Homicide detectives arrested 35-year-old Brian Francis Zielinski for killing Hardy the night Hardy's body was found. Zielinski was booked... Full story

  • Search and Rescue on the scene with Homicide investigation team

    Saturday morning, 2/10/24, the San Diego Sheriff's Homicide unit continues to investigate the killing that was reported Friday night. As of 9:30 am there are at least four units on scene, including a medical examiner's transport van. It is unclear if they are looking for a weapon, or just continuing the investigation.     Sheriff's ASTREA helicopter was heard today, February 13th, announcing the search for a possible 19 year old Hispanic, female suspect last seen running from the 500 block of Alturas Road in Fallbrook wearing a black hoodie with pink writing and displaying a weapon in a threatening manner.   • Car crashes into local Fallbrook business

    There were no reported injuries when a car crashed through the windows and doors of Anytime Fitness, at 855 S. Main Ave in Fallbrook. The car stopped several feet inside the building. There is no information about the driver or their possible injuries at this time.   • Bystanders put vehicle back on its wheels after hit-and-run rollover

    After a reported hit-and-run tonight, a group of bystanders took the initiative to flip the car back on its wheels, before the fire department was able to get to the scene, according to NCFPD PIO John Choi. The traffic collision was reported at 5:30 pm on Saturday, Feb. 10, at S. Mission Rd. and E. Clemmens Ln.   • Three arrested in Fallbrook for guns and drugs

    Deputies with the Fallbrook Sheriff's Substation Crime Suppression Team developed information about about a house that was possibly involved in selling drugs. Through the Crime Suppression Team's investigation, enough evidence for a search warrant was obtained.   • NCFPD responds to fully engulfed vehicle fire

    North County Fire Protection District firefighters were dispatched to a vehicle fire in the area of the 400 block of Via Monserate in Fallbrook on February 9, 2024, at 10:13 am. NCFPD crews arrived on the scene to find a Chevy work truck fully engulfed by fire spreading to another vehicle. NCFPD quickly contained the fire, after arriving on scene.
