Fallbrook Youth Soccer League (FYSL) will soon be holding tryouts. They will be held at the Fallbrook High School field at the corner of Mission Road and Winterhaven. Players must wear shin guards and be dressed in appropriate clothing. Cleats are recommended but not required. A pair of five-second penalties for knocking down a pole took Kerry Popko out of the lead in the California High School Rodeo Association District 8 season Pole Bending standings. The Fallbrook High School junior ended the January 13-14 weekend in Brawley with 122 points for the season, one point behind Melanie Miller. The Fallbrook Senior Center cribbage team narrowly won the January 25 Senior Challenge. With 38 players in the event, the Fallbrook team won 67 games to the Oceanside Senior Center team’s 66 wins. Leading the way for Fallbrook was Ed Wozniak, who won all seven games. In second and third were Oceanside’s Bob Rebar and Fallbrook’s Norman Peterson, who each had five wins with two skunks. FALLBROOK- The Fallbrook High School wrestling teams had their last dual of the season last Thursday against Carlsbad High School, one of the top rated teams in the county. Although the boys fought valiantly and had many close matches, in the end both teams lost. Since 1989 the museum has awarded over 140 scholarships to San Diego area high school graduating seniors embarking on engineering and aerospace careers. At Camp Pendleton last week, kids and moms alike had a wonderful time designing handmade Valentine’s Day cards to send to loved ones in Iraq. Kids glittered, spattered, glued, printed and painted to create one-of-a-kind cards and envelopes while moms socialized and enjoyed refreshments. Fallbrook Girls Softball League (FGSL) kicked off their third season with a Pancake Breakfast and Opening Day Ceremonies on February 10 at Ingold Sports Park.
