  • Bad case of the Mondays?

    Updated Feb 15, 2007

I think every sane reader has a bad case of Jon Monday when he writes into the Village News. Let me bring you to the light and show you how egregious Jon Monday is. Jon Monday says, “I assert that there is no such proof, and in fact, there has been overwhelming proof that there were no WMDs in Iraq at the time of the invasion and there were no WMD programs underway.” A declassified National Ground Intelligence Center document says, “Since 2003, coalition forces have recovered approximately 500 weapons munitions which contain...

For the protection of our children in this community, we appreciate your well written article, MySpace.com - home of friends and felons, in the 2/8/07 issue of the Village News. Parents need to take this valuable information seriously, about the dangers/pitfalls of MySpace and other social networking Web sites. Let’s hope parents will heed the advice of Fred Baclagan and Dan Pearce’s Computer and Technology Crime High-Tech Response Team and become more vigilant with monitoring their children’s use of the computer. • Oceanside's consideration of stadium is mind-boggling

    Updated Feb 15, 2007

Switching from national issues for a moment, I must say how disappointed I am with the council and the people of Oceanside for even considering giving up open space in exchange for more cement and asphalt! This seaside community has already garnered a reputation as a “concrete jungle” – and wonders why tourists prefer Carlsbad and points south. To think that the Oceanside population is so mesmerized by the “NFL hype” that they are willing to give up even a few acres of precious open space for professional sports - and the i...

  • Re: 'Citrus Plant eye-sore gets new life'

    Updated Feb 15, 2007

Is this concept rendering of the finished plaza a finalized representation of the building façade? If so, then frankly, it doesn’t have very much personality. In fact, it’s terribly bland. Shouldn’t a project as important as this have more of a historically relevant overall character? In other words, it should borrow from the architectural precedents of Old Main Street and the rural turn of the century feeling Fallbrook is known for. The current concept just looks like another thrown-together mini-mall one would expect... Full story

  • Thank you for supporting fundraiser

    Updated Feb 15, 2007

So often when we watch the news or read the newspaper we see destruction, hate, abuse, anger and separation. We read about the youth and we see gangs, violence and disobedience. Fallbrook, as a community, is fortunate to have the Village News because in it we see more of the good in human nature and less of the bad. I hope you don’t mind me sharing one more positive aspect about this town. On Tuesday night, February 6, a couple of churches worked together to raise money for our youth. Business owners donated their time and t...

  • RMWD needs Gerald Walson

    Updated Feb 15, 2007

Kenneth Roth, candidate for director from Rainbow Municipal Water District’s Division 1, says he wants to help strengthen the district’s fiscal solvency, yet his last minute filing to run triggered a special election which will cost Rainbow about $70,000. That’s $70,000 we can’t spend on infrastructure. He could have sought appointment, as others did. Doing so would have allowed the board to question him regarding his views about Rainbow’s past and future. The ratepayers would have learned where he stood on capital improveme...
