  • Rockola concert was great

    Updated Feb 19, 2009

I really enjoyed the concert Friday night at Fallbrook High’s Bob Burton Center. Of course having my son, Beau Albright, singing in the Madrigals was a very special part of it, but I love the Rockola band and plan on coming next year and helping spread the word! I knew half the audience there, so I am sure we can double the crowd next year; the benefit to Invisible Children just added to the night’s celebration and watching our friends dancing and reliving their happy memories was the icing on the cake! What a great gift to... Full story

  • Karnival moved to this Sunday

    Updated Feb 19, 2009

I just wanted to take a moment to thank the town of Fallbrook. My son Hunter Hults and his friends formed Kidz 4 Kritterz to make a difference in the lives of the animals at the Fallbrook Animal Sanctuary. After volunteering there last fall, Hunter became passionate about the care of these animals. When he lost his aunt in an accident last summer, he realized that he could save these animals and do something amazing in honor of his aunt. I have been awed by these five seventh- and eighth-graders; they have worked hard to...

  • Thank you! Thank you!

    Updated Feb 19, 2009

We would like to thank Kahoots Pet Store in Fallbrook for their generous donation to our first/second grade classroom. My students are doing a special study in science about frogs and toads. Kahoots is allowing my classroom to keep a beautiful aquarium for classroom observations. Not only did they provide the habitat and two green tree frogs, they also provided the food and correct water and spray bottle. Now our first/second grade students will have the opportunity to observe frogs in real life and bring the natural world... Full story

  • Fellow dog walkers

    Updated Feb 19, 2009

I have a request to all my fellow dog walkers: please clean up after your dog. I have a large dog I walk during the week and I manage to clean up behind him, and believe me, what he leaves is no small prize. Show some respect for others who walk on our sidewalks and roads; it only take a few seconds. I personally carry a plastic bag and a paper bag. I put the plastic bag, with its contents, into the small paper bag – this to me looks better then carrying just the plastic bag – and continue on my walk. Thank you. Nancy W. Bus...

  • Great medical treatment in the Friendly Village

    Updated Feb 19, 2009

It is comforting to know that you do not need to leave Fallbrook to get the very best medical treatment available. I recently had knee replacement surgery at Fallbrook Hospital. I was able to have the latest technique called the “Oxford Knee” where only half the knee is replaced and your kneecap is retained. This requires a much smaller incision and rehabilitation is faster and easier than a total knee replacement. A great medical team led by Dr. Robert Pace, with assistance from Dr. Lane Oslund, Jim Krepelin and nursing sta... Full story

  • Letter to President Barack Obama

    Updated Feb 19, 2009

My family background is Jewish and I was immensely proud of the state of Israel, until my middle age, and after countless news reports of Israel’s persecution of Palestinians, destroying their homes and farms, towns and public works, assassinating their leaders, killing civilians, women and children. I think Israel is crazy with fear and contempt of other people and will use any and every brutal savage force toward an imaginary threat. And we (USA) supply the planes and bombs they use. It’s time to stop sending arms to Isr...

  • How do you bet?

    Updated Feb 19, 2009

The bets are on the table, now we just need to see how the cards play out. Democrats have bet on the stimulus bill, which is aimed at recovering the US economy from the disastrous last eight years of unregulated, trickle-down theory that brought us near total collapse. Republicans have bet against the US economy. The American public has sided with Obama. I’m one of those who believe we can recover – now that the Republicans have been marginalized. We won’t know which side is right until 2010. The Republicans have retre...

  • War and greed, not charity to our own, is destroying America

    Updated Feb 19, 2009

Printing $ trillions in paper fiat money without tangible backing guarantees economic Armageddon. I am not so worried by the $787 billion “economic stimulus” bill just passed by Congress as I am about the far more massive bailout of banks and financial institutions, an amount almost 14 times as large. Wall Street economist Michael Hudson points out that the Bush administration tossed out $9 trillion to the banks, and the present administration will soon dish out another $2 trillion, money created out of thin air. This makes b...

  • A thank you from Afghanistan

    Updated Feb 19, 2009

I would like to thank the Village News for your recent story on Afghanistan Water Polo (1/17/09). It was very well written and definitely pinpointed what our organization is doing to help create desperately needed heroes in a country that has known little but horrific conflict for over three decades. These heroes will in turn take their experiences back to Afghanistan to help their country become self-reliant. Once self-reliance takes root in Afghanistan, the United States will be able to start bringing our men and women of... Full story

  • Heart for Africa fundraiser a success

    Updated Feb 19, 2009

On Saturday, January 31, Christ the King Lutheran Church had a benefit dinner to support the high school students going on a short-term missions trip to Kenya in July. It was a special night, with some heart-touching videos and two wonderful speakers. Janine Maxwell, author of “It’s Not Okay With Me,” gave her testimony and challenged more people to help. David Kerioke, a Kenyan orphan, gave his amazing testimony of living life on the streets. All in all, the night was amazing. It was made possible because of all those who w...

    Updated Feb 19, 2009

The letter requests an appeal of water restrictions on California as mandated by federal court rulings to protect the Delta smelt. “Every drop of water is a valuable commodity in California and it is crucial that we protect what little we have,” stated Senator Hollingsworth. “We...
