Due to the generosity of the Friends of the Fallbrook Library, the library has been able to purchase a subscription to the Sunday New York Times, which is often requested by customers and is not otherwise locally available. The library has also purchased a subscription to the print edition of Value Line, also in high demand by members of investment clubs and other local residents. The online edition of Value Line was cancelled by the county library due to budget considerations. Another new service now available to all county...
A recent article in the North County Times spoke of the deterioration to Holy Trinity Church, the 800-year-old structure in Stratford-upon-Avon that served as the family church for William Shakespeare in the 16th century. Brought to mind was my visit to this same church a couple of years ago. I was assisted in my tour of this historic site by an elderly churchgoer who was both knowledgeable and friendly. He would take no fee for the great service provided. I have mailed a donation toward meeting the cost of the restoration... Full story
Granite Construction has graciously offered area residents “field trips” to their Indio mining location to help alleviate any fears area residents may have over their plans to open the largest open-pit mine of its type in the nation on Fallbrook’s northern border. Once there, I suggest you ask a few pertinent questions, such as: 1. Why have you brought me all the way here to s...

My recipe boxes… and files… and clippings… and notebooks are among my greatest treasures. For not only are the recipes therein tested and true favorites, they are also wonderful reminders of people who have been a part of my personal history. Seldom do I encounter a recipe amongst the collection where there is not a memory attached to it. So while I prepare that recipe I linger amongst the loving thoughts of the persons and events that are linked to it. There is, for example, the bean soup with kale that takes me back to a ti...

Johnson and Sgt. Ferguson attended the same church in Spring, TX, and throughout Johnson’s battle with cancer became the best of friends. “He was reall...
