  • NEWSLETTER

    Updated Feb 4, 2005

Even after a week of torrential rains during the prior weekend, we had a well-attended Sundowner at Rawhide Ranch last month. Over 50 souls braved the muddy roads to find an excellent spread of food and feisty entertainment. New members and guests were introduced and enjoyed the networking among those attending. The Bonsall Chamber of Commerce office in the River Village has been ably “manned” by volunteers since first being set up a couple years ago. To relieve the pressure on the volunteers, this last year we were able to...

  • Ward's Jewelers

    Updated Feb 4, 2005

Full-service jewelers, serving the communities of North San Diego County since 1955 “It’s hard to believe that we’ve been meeting the jewelry needs of the Fallbrook/ Bonsall area for 50 years,” said George Ward. In 1950, his father, Lawrence Ward, started a jewelry store in Idaho, but after tiring of the harsh winters he and George, then 8 years old, drove to Fallbrook, CA, to answer an ad regarding a jewelry store for sale. They went back to Idaho, packed up the family and in 1955 arrived in Fallbrook during the Pioneer...

  • Hospital breaks ground for addition

    Updated Feb 4, 2005

Excitement was in the air January 27 when executives at Fallbrook Hospital held a groundbreaking ceremony for the new 3,200-square-foot addition that will provide an endoscopy center and renovated surgery suites to support contemporary technology for improved patient care at the local healthcare facility. Expected to be an $8.5 million project, the addition will be the first since 1985 for the hospital. Since it was built, in 1959, the hospital has had only two additions — one in 1969 when the medical/surgical unit was added...

Senator Bill Morrow Office (760) 434-7930 HOW GOVERNMENT SPENDS YOUR MONEY For those interested in how state and local government’s spend your money, I highly recommend the Center for Government’s Web site at www.govanalyst.com. In light of this recent news about government pensions, I believe that these analyses will shed some much-needed light on how California’s counties spend your money on personnel. In summary, the report found that the total payroll for county government employees grew by 48% between 1997 and 2002. In 1...

  • HONORARY MAYOR

    Updated Feb 4, 2005

I was very pleased to have been invited to the Fallbrook Chamber of Commerce Installation and Awards Dinner Dance at the Pala Mesa Resort. I was seated next to the president of the Bonsall Chamber of Commerce, Leigh Ann Howard, and those at our table were Senator Bill Morrow and Assemblyman Raymond Haynes. Sometimes representing the community of Bonsall is quite exciting, especially having a State Senator and Assemblyman respecting the title of Honorary Mayor of Bonsall. I will be attending a ribbon-cutting later on this...

  • Roger's tree pick for February 2005:

    Updated Feb 4, 2005

While we are in the depth of the winter season, I must point out the glorious trees that are currently in bloom all around us. While portions of the country are in the midst of historic snowstorms, blizzards, freezing cold temperatures, wind chill factors and rain, rain, rain, our winter gardens have fabulous flowering trees. Look around your neighborhoods for bright white blossoms of pears, intense golden plumes of Acacia, hot red stems of flowering peach and the sweet scent from an assortment of citrus blooms. Can it get... Full story
