Bonsall’s Paige Chrisman has earned first-team all-league honors in high school girls basketball. Chrisman, a junior at Christian Life High School in Escondido, earned the first-team honors for the Citrus West League. “She’s a hustler. She works on the court; she’s quick,” said Christian Life coach Todd Nash. Christian Life earned a trip to the state tournament by reaching the CIF San Diego Section Division V finals. FALLBROOK — On February 20, Fallbrook 4-H’s Floriculture Group took a tour at Sunlet Nursery. Janet Kister led the tour of the nursery, which is owned and run by her husband, John. Located in Fallbrook, Sunlet specializes in indoor flowering plants and select foliage plants. The group toured greenhouses filled with gorgeous plants, such as the pink Splash and the Christmas Cactus. Deputies from the Fallbrook Sheriff’s Substation used a bean bag gun to subdue a 15-year-old special education student when he refused to hand over a knife to deputies at Fallbrook High School on Thursday, March 8. Two local restaurants have been victims of armed robberies in the past two weeks, Sheriff’s Department authorities say. While a combined $4,600 was stolen in the incidences, no was injured in either robbery. “We’re not used to robberies here like this, but they seem to be occurring in North County more frequently,” said Sheriff’s Sgt. FALLBROOK — San Diego County Farm Bureau Executive Director Eric Larson announced Tuesday at the Fallbrook Village Rotary meeting that the final report has just been completed on the freeze that caused severe agricultural damage to the area in January. “Three thousand farms were affected within the county,” said Larson. “We had over $115 million in lost crops, and when you factor that it means $402 million in economic impact.” Larson said 22 types of agricultural crops were affected countywide. On Tuesday, March 6, the Temecula City Council began the process of attempting to pull the land out from underneath the controversial Liberty Quarry. The council resolved to apply for the annexation of 4,600 acres of land on Temecula’s southwest border. Granite Construction Company applied with Riverside County to use part of that land as a mine.
