  • Is anybody listening?

    Updated Mar 25, 2010

On March 31, 2010, our lifestyle in Fallbrook will begin to change forever. At the end of this month, Caltrans will publish the draft environmental impact report for the final phase of the expansion of Highway 76 from South Mission Road to Interstate 15, revealing Caltrans’ decision whether to redirect the highway south into the San Luis Rey Valley, or to expand it on the existing roadway. The decision on which route to take, however, is (and in my opinion has always been) a fait accompli. At his recent State of North C...

Thanks to all the sponsors and attendees at Tails & Trails in Los Jilgueros Preserve on March 6. We had a wonderful attendance and raised more than $2,500 for the Fallbrook Land Conservancy’s Los Jilgueros Preserve. We all had a great time. I wish to give special thanks to the sponsors whose donations of cash were particularly valuable: Coldwell Banker Landmark Group; John Crawford, attorney; Berry-Bell & Hall Fallbrook Mortuary, and Lovin’ Friends Dog Groomers. • Where's the outrage?

    Updated Mar 25, 2010

In the aftermath of the double tragedies of Chelsea King and Amber DuBois, and as a mother of three daughters, I did some checking. Turns out we have quite a few registered sex offenders right here in Fallbrook. Go on the Megan’s Law Web site, enter your address and view a map with the locations of all of the convicted offenders that choose to register where they are living. I say “choose” because I noticed that one of the offenders in my neighborhood was absent from this map since the last time I checked. He still lives down...

The people of Bonsall and Fallbrook are great! For the past two weekends, many volunteered their time to clean several schools and churches in our community as part of Disney’s Give a Day, Get a Day coordinated by Bonsall Education Foundation (BEF). Updated Mar 25, 2010

I want to personally thank Sam Logan, owner of Major Market, for his vision in supporting the significant expansion of his organic produce section in the front and center of his Fallbrook store. Sam hired a very knowledgeable organic produce manager, Tom Fudge, who is committed to offering us the best. I very much appreciate being able to keep my shopping dollars right here in Fallbrook, saving gas and valuable time, rather than needing to drive to Escondido or Temecula to get a comparable assortment of fresh, top-quality... Full story

  • Re: Inter-district transfers not allowed [Letter, Village News, 2/5/10]

    Updated Mar 25, 2010

We have had similar issues (failures) in trying to get an inter-district transfer for our daughter. Our daughter attends Potter Junior High School. She is constantly ridiculed, harassed, and most recently, threatened with bodily harm. Due to the harassment and threats, we have decided we do not want our daughter to attend Fallbrook High School as the same students at PJHS will go on to Fallbrook High. We have thus far been denied by two members of the high school administration. They both feel we should give the high school...
