Dion Rich’s latest book, “The Life of Dion Rich: Live Like a Millionaire for No Money Down” set a record for endorsement blurbs of the book, and one of the endorsers was Fallbrook resident Dick Adams. Rich obtained 60 endorsements for his new book, which incorporates his 2003 book “Confessions of the World’s Greatest Gate-Crasher” while adding some of Rich’s subsequent adventures. The publisher of Rich’s first book remarked that the most endorsements he had seen for a book was 50, so Rich needed 51 to set the world record. ...
A Fallbrook woman whose Christian faith has played out in print is now using that medium to detail her battle against a life-threatening disease. FALLBROOK - The Rotary Club of Fallbrook celebrated its 65th anniversary recently at a weekly Thursday luncheon meeting at the Grand Tradition. Founded in 1946, the club founded two other local Rotary Clubs over the years – the Fallbrook Village Rotary Club and the Bonsall Rotary Club. FALLBROOK – The Fallbrook High School equestrian team’s show season is currently in full swing. So far, the team has taken home two Reserve Champion awards in the Children’s Hunter division. Two of Fallbrook High School’s girls soccer players earned all-league honors. The Avocado East League coaches placed left midfielder Sarah Foster and goalkeeper Samantha Branham on the league’s second team. Foster was one of four freshmen who started for the Warriors this year. Fallbrook High School’s track and field teams began the 2012 season March 3 at the Mount Carmel Field and Distance Invite meet. “We had a pretty good day overall,” said Fallbrook head coach Troy Hamlin. The 800-meter and 1,600-meter events include freshmen races, and Fallbrook’s Elijah Roque medaled in both. Roque had a time of 2:16.80 in the boys 800-meter race to place third. His 4:59.76 performance in the 1,600-meter run placed fourth while breaking five minutes in his first race. “That’s very impressive,” Hamlin said....

The 2012 Tournament of Roses Parade involved two floats which utilized flowers from the Mellano and Company nursery, including one whose riders included Mike Mellano Sr. Mike Mellano Sr. rode on the Kit-Kat Clock Company float, which was one of two floats certified by the California Cut Flower Commission and the California Secretary of Agriculture as using California-grown flowers. Ailsa Aiton Benjamin passed away in her sleep March 19, 2012. Born August 31, 1927 in Santa Monica, Ailsa was raised in Hollywood and was a graduate of Hollywood High School. After attending Los Angeles City College, Ailsa married Robert Benjamin in 1949. They lived in the Los Angeles area until 1962, when they moved to Fallbrook. Ailsa devoted many years to the Fallbrook Hospital Auxiliary, the Fallbrook Historical Society, and the American Field Service (AFS). She served on... Full story
Rosa Martha Valencia Torres passed March 23, 2012. Born in Cotija, Mexico, she had been a resident of Fallbrook since 1968. She is survived by her husband and five children. There will be a visitation at Berry-Bell and Hall Mortuary Friday, March 30, from 6 to 10 p.m. A mass will be held Saturday, March 31 at 12:30 p.m. at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church.
