  • Consequences of Obamacare

    Updated Apr 8, 2010

This healthcare law is a more certain death sentence for those of us over 65 than criminals sentenced to die. Here in California people on death row will be kept alive for over 20 years while they appeal their verdict, whereas, when I get sick the doctor has to follow a government dictated plan and if it rules against me, this plan says I have no appeal. Many of us will surely die much sooner than we should under Obamacare. We will die long before the criminal on death row. I most certainly hope this healthcare law will...

  • Hospital access has changed

    Updated Apr 8, 2010

We have lost our freedom to walk into our Fallbrook Hospital, it seems. For the past five years, I have been able to walk in with no problem. That’s all over with. Now they have special locks. I feel that I have lost some of my freedom. I now must walk through the front door, go to the front desk, and talk to that person. The desk person wants my name, then she pushes a button that opens an inner door – just as if I were going into a prison to visit someone. Is this the start of a socialist state by our President O...

Local farmers are facing a real challenge with the escalating price of water and the SAWR was set to expire on December 31 this year. The extension will result in $12 million in savings for county farmers in exchange for accepting a lower level of service during water supply disruptions. As a Water Authority...

  • Pillow Fight Day 2010 unites the world in feathers and old-fashioned fun

    Updated Apr 8, 2010

When you’re about to take on the world with a pillow, there is no perfect strategy. However, I did try to incorporate a few bob-and-weave moves to keep from getting whacked with hundreds of pillows in San Diego on April 3, otherwise known as International Pillow Fight Day. My friends and I joined a massive pillow fight in front of Horton Plaza in San Diego, while people in São Paulo, Brazil; Seattle, Wash; Shanghai, China; Stockholm, Sweden; Sydney, Australia; Taipei, Ta...
