    Joe Naiman, Village News Reporter

The San Diego County Water Authority was successful in its rate lawsuit against the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California, and the SDCWA provided a check to the Rainbow Municipal Water District for Rainbow’s share of the settlement. On March 23, the Rainbow board voted 5-0 to place the money into the district’s reserves rather than to attempt to provide refunds to each individual ratepayer. “I believe that it’s not worth the time and money to return the money to potential and past ratepayers,” board member Pa...

    The house on Pala Road

Rebecca Marshall Farnbach, Special to Valley News|Updated Apr 14, 2021

The house for sale on Pala Road just south of Whispering Oaks Terrace is not the former home of Erle Stanley Gardner, but it was the home of at least two notable residents. Gardner never lived there, and I don't believe he ever owned it, but it has a many storied past and does have a connection to the prolific Perry Mason author. Gardner's residence is located on the Pechanga Reservation in the hills near the casino and Journey Golf Course. The house for sale is recognizable...

  • Real Estate Round-Up: I is for insurance

Kim Murphy, Murphy & Murphy Southern California Realty

I touched on the subject of insurance previously, when I addressed the positive impact that adding home hardening features to a property has on the insurability of the property. The topic of insurance demands a deeper dive because, in California, securing affordable homeowners’ insurance is not an easy task. Insurance companies use the Federal Emergency Management Agency maps to evaluate the types of natural disasters that a property has the potential to experience. The F... Full story

  • Late San Pasqual touchdown gives Warriors one-point loss

Joe Naiman, Village News Reporter|Updated Apr 14, 2021

A one-point football loss can be a disappointment since one of many actions could have reversed the result. Fallbrook High School's 14-13 loss April 9 at San Pasqual showed Fallbrook head coach Troy Everhart where the Warriors need to fix vulnerabilities. "There are no moral victories," Everhart said. "We've got to close that game out, figure what we need to do to get better." The one-point loss was preferable to Fallbrook's 2019 result against San Pasqual. "It was 63 to nothing last year," Everhart said. "I think we closed t...

"I'm proud of the kids who came out," said Fallbrook coach Chip Patterson. "It is what it is. I can't get mad at them." Fallbrook does not have a junior varsity team this year. The delay in the start of CIF sports has forced multi-sport athletes to choose, so many football and basketball players who normally also play volleyball are not among...

The seven MASL teams who took the field for the 2020-2021 season had strong rosters in part because the other 10...
