What Caltrans fails to tell you about the SR76 Eastern section expansion is the following: Based on Table 4.7-1 of their DEIR, should Caltrans select the Existing Alignment Alternative in place of the Southern Alignment Alternative, by the year 2030, 35,810 gallons of fuel per day would be wasted (as per the Efficiency Fuel Savings column of their Table 4.7-1.) This wasted fuel would generate 290 tons of additional carbon dioxide pollutants per day into the environment. San Diego County does not want the responsibility of...
I see that another writer has decided to champion Michael Behe’s discredited work. The purpose of my first letter was to inform people that Behe is not credible, and I suggested that they look it up on the Internet. I could have been more specific. Dismantling of Behe’s (and other’s) arguments for intelligent design can be found at www.talkorigins.org. This website also has transcripts of the Dover trial, in which Behe served as a witness for the defense, and at which intelligent design was ruled to be just another form... Full story
Thanks to Cal Trans for updating their 2008 traffic study. Unfortunately, the counting strips on SR76 were only in place for a week - during Spring Break! How many cars would be counted on a summer weekend with travelers going to the beach? No thanks to North County Supervisor Bill Horn. While he’s done a tremendous amount for the Fallbrook community, in my opinion, his friendship with Vessels appears to be a conflict of interest. Indeed, he has expressed bias on at least three occasions for the proposed Existing Alignment o... Full story
The recent Fallbrook Film Festival was excellent, well organized, and beautifully done, especially the gala awards event at the Pala Casino. I met Shirley Jones and talked to the famous actress. She is delightful and blessed. I also met Frank Capra III, a perfectly affable gentleman. My father, Carlton William Lloyd, had worked for Frank Capra (the movie producer/grandfather), helping him clear and develop the huge Capra Ranch here. Adrienne Armstrong and group: thank you for a wonderful, awesome three days and nights....
Mr. Willis supports creationist Behe’s intelligent design and rightfully attacks those who “demonize” its supporters and claim they lack knowledge. It takes but one example to trash Darwin’s theory, as finding a fossil rabbit in Precambrian, but in 150 years, nothing has been found to negate his theory. Behe hoped that his bacterial “rotary engine” flagellum would do it, but it didn’t. There is nothing that can trash intelligent design. Unlike Darwin’s theory, it is not scientific; it is theological like creationism and... Full story
