  • Guest Editorial : Avocado Festival benefits our community in many ways

    Updated May 8, 2008

The Annual Avocado Festival benefits the community of Fallbrook in many more ways than people realize. It celebrates our agricultural heritage while providing an opportunity for entertainment and camaraderie; it brings large numbers of visitors to our town who will one day return to shop, to sightsee, and spend some time here; it provides significant economic benefits to our local businesses and community groups; and it generates enormous exposure of our community, both locally and regionally. The festival’s celebration of F...

  • Community involvement leads to lower crime rates

    Updated May 8, 2008

I am encouraged to read the Opinions section of the Village News where Fallbrook citizens discuss issues related to crime and public safety in Fallbrook. As any good law enforcement professional will tell you, community involvement and awareness leads to lower crime rates. During the Rice Fire, our staff had the responsibility of providing public safety services without the majority of our citizens in their homes. It took over 200 deputies, officers, and agents to protect your property, and even then we could not stop every...

When we were children, we thought you could walk on water… Well, we found out we were wrong. When we were teenagers, we thought we could walk all over you… Well, we found out we were wrong. When we were 20-somethings, we thought we could walk out of your life… Well, we found out we were wrong. When we were young marrieds, we thought we could walk in your shoes… Well, we found out we were wrong. When we finally grew up, and knew what you meant to us, we thought we deserved only to walk a step behind you. Well, we found o... Full story

  • A welcoming place to pray

    Updated May 8, 2008

I go to a terrific church, Christ the King Lutheran. On Saturday night, I went to their youth service at 6 p.m. I did not know what to expect but had a great time listening to music with soul and listening to an inspirational message in a relaxed way. Brandon Way, Youth Director, is very welcoming and down to earth. His brother, Cori, has a great band that sounds great. I encourage everyone, young or old, to come by and enjoy some great music and a relaxed atmosphere to pray and thank God we’re alive. All are welcomed; s... Full story

The Mission Theater and Patty Hornsveld have outdone themselves with their current production of “The Sound of Music.” It is a professionally done, talent-filled, heartwarming rendition of the always-beloved musical by Rodgers and Hammerstein! We and a group of friends enjoyed this production so much; it was truly over-the-top! To see such talent, in singing (Sandra Kopitzke was truly magnificent), acting, choreography…and then there were the children. We were blessed. We left the performance touched by our local talen...

The Federal Reserve continues to print up money that does not exist and the American people get to pay the interest on this money that the government borrowed.
