SACRAMENTO — The Franchise Tax Board (FTB) warns taxpayers of two current scams involving FTB and identity theft. “Taxpayers should protect their personal information and treat any unsolicited emails with caution,” said State Controller and FTB Chair John Chiang. “Contact FTB immediately if you have any concerns.” The first scam involves an e-mail “phishing” for taxpayer data. FALLBROOK — Sponsors for the upcoming “Making Dreams Come True” auction and dinner gala were recognized recently at the home of Wayne and Peggy Warner in Fallbrook. Fall Ball is a chance for girls from the mini-minor through junior divisions of the Fallbrook Girls Softball League (FGSL) to continue playing softball in the off-season. New players are welcome but must provide a copy of their birth certificate at registration. FGSL plays in the San Dieguito Youth Softball league and practices once per week with games on Sunday. The Avocado League track and field meet saw five Fallbrook High School individuals or relay teams take first place, and the meet allowed 14 Warrior entries into the CIF preliminary meet. Fallbrook High School junior Marquis Sumpter was part of two of those winners at the league finals May 8 at Vista High School. On May 10-11, the Fallbrook High School frosh/soph rugby team traveled to San Luis Obispo to compete in the Southern California State Rugby Championships. The Warriors opened up with a 44-5 semifinal victory over the Santa Clarita Tigers. It took only three minutes for Fallbrook to open the scoring as Martin Barajas touched down the first five points. Fallbrook High School’s Nicholle Kohls won the girls diving event at the Avocado League meet. Kohls had a score of 410.85 points on 11 dives.
