  • NRA holds women gun safety clinic

    The National Rifle Association held a gun safety clinic Saturday morning at the Ben Clark Public Safety Training Center in Riverside. The Riverside County Sheriff Department hosted the clinic. More than 100 women of all ages took the course on gun safety which was followed up with target practice.   • Temecula checkpoint nets zero drunken drivers

    The Riverside County Sheriff department held a sobriety checkpoint Friday evening. According to police, zero drunken drivers were found at the checkpoint held in the 28700 block of Old Town Front Street in Temecula. The checkpoint began operations Friday evening at 7 p.m. and ended at 1 a.m. Saturday. “Only one motorist was cited or arrested for allegedly driving on a suspended license,” said Riverside County sheriff's Sgt.   • 91 Freeway shuts down Saturday night

    The 91-Freeway between Central and University Avenues will be temporarily shut down in both directions tonight. Road crews will be removing the Ivy Street Bridge. Travelers are advised to make alternate plans. The westbound section of the freeway will close at 11 p.m. and eastbound stretch of the 91-Freeway will close at midnight.   • Paragliders crashed Friday evening

    Two paragliders crashed on a hillside north of San Jacinto Friday night. Officials from the Riverside Fire Department said both paragliders escaped injury. The accident was reported at 8:49 p.m. Friday. Dispatchers were able to find the pair by cell phone communication.
