There is a history of real estate talent in Valary Edgar’s family, and she most definitely inherited this gene. Many years ago, her father owned a construction company and was partners in a real estate company in Poway. “I grew up around real estate,” said Edgar. By buying land, building homes and selling them, she witnessed firsthand how her father was able to retire when he was a mere 35 years old. Initially, Edgar did not follow the real estate path. After graduating from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, being a profe... Full story

The Dead Sea Scrolls will be on display in San Diego from June 29-December 31, 2007. They are so named because of their discovery in caves near the Dead Sea. These amazing Scrolls provide a unique look into the ancient world and are well worth a trip to the San Diego Natural History Museum. Leaving the Scrolls aside, focus for a moment on the Dead Sea, for which they are named. The Jordan River flows into the Sea of Galilee and then out, eventually making its way into the Dead Sea, where it can go no further. The Dead Sea and...
As part of my research for this apologetics column, I have been digging (pardon the pun) for archeological finds to defend Christian faith. So the Dead Sea Scrolls have peaked my interest. They substantiate a link from our Christian faith to a tangible ancient belief system embedded in the ancient scrolls. The exhibition on display in Balboa Park from June 29-Dec 31, is the largest, longest, and most comprehensive ever assembled in any country. Spanning two floors and 12,000 square feet, 27 Dead Sea Scrolls—Ten exhibited f... Full story

Fallbrook High School’s 2007 boys lacrosse team improved its win total by three from the previous year. The Warriors were 2-11 in 2006 and 5-14 in 2007. “The season overall in my opinion was a success,” Fallbrook head coach Al Schoffstall said. Teams are allowed to schedule up to 20 games in a season (they can also schedule up to three tournaments, each of which counts as two games regardless of how many the team actually plays), and Schoffstall increased the team’s competition to 19 games for this year. “I figured the exper...
Fallbrook High School’s boys swim team finished sixth at the CIF championship meet, and Fallbrook junior Stott Bushnell set a school record in winning the 100-yard freestyle race. The sixth-place finish, along with a second-place finish in the Avocado League, came despite losing 17 of 29 members of the 2006 team and returning only four swimmers who spent all of 2006 on the varsity. “Pretty good for really a new team,” said Fallbrook coach Bill Richardson. “We were coming off a second-place finish at CIF, which equaled... The Guac Girls comprised of Fallbrook High School field hockey players finished with a 3-1-1 record at the Cal Cup May 26-28 at Moorpark Community College. “We did fine,” said Guac Girls coach Kathy Waite. “I was just very pleased.” High school field hockey teams cannot officially represent their schools outside of the CIF season, and without the ability to call themselves the Warriors the team adopted the name Guac Girls. The Cal Cup is often a chance for Waite, who is also the high school varsity field hockey coach,...
