  • Sports a haven for crudity?

    Updated Jul 2, 2006

As we noted last week in our discussion of the thick-headedness of the baseball executive who concluded a discussion of possible drug use in his sport by slandering his own team, leadership in sports is no guarantee of intelligence. Nor, it has since developed, of either maturity or good taste. We have two fresh examples of the latter characteristics, one in basketball and one in baseball. You have one guess apiece as to who we are talking about. Right you are. The flamboyant owner of the Dallas Mavericks, whose ego is even l... Full story

  • Murrieta School Board missed chance for greatness

    Updated Jul 2, 2006

A great opportunity was lost by the Murrieta School Board when they voted once again to name their newest high school for the city of Murrieta. Three high schools, all Murrieta, with geographic references: Vista, Valley and now Mesa. Nice enough and bland enough to satisfy those who turned the naming of the school into a political issue. However, it was not the proponents of the name Ronald Reagan who pushed a partisan and political agenda but those whose politics of hate blinds them to the fact that Ronald Reagan was the...

Local Turkish television showed video of the Turkish soldiers being led out of their headquarters with hoods over their heads. It was use...
