  • The re-striping of Ammunition Road

    Updated Jul 7, 2011

An amazing number of governmental bodies and community organizations have been working closely together to resolve the traffic congestion related to the Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton. A complete solution is going take time… but one immediate improvement has already been implemented by the San Diego County Department of Public Works - the re-striping of Ammunition Road and the extended timing of the traffic signals. It may take a while for us to adjust to this major change, but I know our “Friendly Village” will give this...

  • Re: 'Asst. D.A. aims to establish Fallbrook street gang as "criminal" in murder trial' [Village News, 6/23/2011]

    Updated Jul 7, 2011

With shock and horror I read the front page story about the brutal ambush and racist murder of 19-year-old Kenneth Mose. This young man had only lived in Fallbrook for four months, and was stalked and murdered by strangers whilst walking across the street. I have navigated the Albertsons parking lot and Carl’s Jr. area many times on many nights, most likely including any given random night in January, such as the night Mose was killed. I’ve never felt unsafe, but that has changed. I had no idea that Fallbrook could be so dan...

  • What's really in a hot dog?

    Updated Jul 7, 2011

SAN DIEGO – For many years, hot dogs have received their share of bad publicity. Uncertainty over “secret” ingredients, housed within the outer membrane, has caused many to fear the humble hot dog. In truth, there isn’t much mystery to the contents of frankfurters, and people needn’t fear the worst. There have long been rumors that hot dogs contained many unsavory parts, making them food unfit even for pets. The term “dog” has been used as a synonym for sausage sin...
