  • Stop spitting on our wounded veterans

    Updated Jul 12, 2007

“If they were good enough to get into the military to serve, then they are good enough to get medical care for their injuries,” stated Rep. Bob Filner at the community forum last Thursday in Fallbrook. He was speaking of the high rejection rate by the military of injury claims by wounded troops. Filner, the liberal San Diego Democrat, explained that if the military can find any prior existing history or allegation of mental or psychological impairment, the military is refusing to pay for brain injuries sustained in Iraq. The...

  • Take morality out of the equation

    Updated Jul 12, 2007

In a recent letter [“We need to focus on what matters,” Village News, 6/14/07], I suggested that we need to get beyond “hot button” topics when it comes to the serious chore of selecting a President of the United States. I won’t embarrass the person who took me to task on this proposal, but the response was exactly what is wrong with our choice of candidates to serve as public officials. The respondent indicated that we must take expressed morality into account – the very thing that we shouldn’t consider! After all – whose m... Full story

  • Why have our leaders changed their focus?

    Updated Jul 12, 2007

In 1964, I took a full year off from running my rapidly growing company, Arrowhead Mills in Texas, to campaign against LBJ, as I firmly believed that he would expand our no-win war in Vietnam. Over 58,000 dead and thousands of severely injured troops later, we all know the extent of that tragedy. My wife and I moved to California in 1996 at the request of Dr. Bill Bright of Campus Crusade for Christ, with whom I had been working for ten years in Texas. I loved my work with athletes in action and the Jesus film project.... Full story

  • Global warming theory is phony

    Updated Jul 12, 2007

The global warming theory states that sufficient carbon dioxide exists in the stratosphere to form a glass-like shield around the Earth to act like a greenhouse, thereby causing Mother Earth to heat up. Due to gravity exerted by Mother Earth, there is an envelope of gaseous substance called air surrounding the Earth known as the atmosphere. Fact: air pressure decreases with increases in altitude. Consequently, the corresponding density of atmospheric gases gradually decreases with increasing distance above sea level. At 10...

    Updated Jul 12, 2007

I would like to thank the staff of Fallbrook Hospital for the excellent care they provided my father during his recent stay there. The afternoon and night nursing supervisors, Judy Ritter and Kathy Krejewski, were especially considerate of the wishes of my family. The nursing staff, especially Nimfa and Sharon, was cognizant of his every need and worked tirelessly to make him comfortable. The laboratory staff posted his test results rapidly. The hospice staff of Russ Williams, social worker, and nurses Mary and Fran visited... Full story

  • Personal defense still up to the citizen

    Updated Jul 12, 2007

Most California politicians are completely oblivious to the personal defense issues of the ordinary citizen. Most politicians, mostly Democrats, never need to worry about personal defense because their position lets them have at their disposal state-funded protection, i.e.: California Highway Patrol. Our elitist Democratic politicians could care less about your safety or mine as long as the votes are there to get them in office. So be of good cheer; your own personal protection is still in your hands and law enforcement...
