  • Re: The 'entitlement mentality' [Letters, Village News, 7/5/12]

    Updated Jul 12, 2012

This is in reply to John Terrell’s rebuttal on July 5. I’m curious as to what Mr. Terrell feels the “proportionate share” should be for all wage earners? And yes, let’s quote Adam Smith, “Every tax ought to be so contrived as both to take out and to keep out of the pockets of the people as little as possible, over and above what it brings into the public treasury of the State.” Also, Adam Smith wasn’t speaking about “proportionate share” with regard to income taxes – he wanted taxes on “luxury consumables.” Now, if...

Thank you for the overwhelming community support and friendship as we grieve the loss of our daughter, Natalie Ratnavira. Her love for life and animals will be missed always as her smile and kindness leaves a void in all of our hearts. Her quote, “It is not about weathering the storm; but learning to dance in the rain,” inspires us to continue. We would like to thank everyone and note the fundraiser at San Luis Rey Tennis Club, the Natalie Ratnavira Fund, and the amazing and generous support via donations, cards, meals, pho...

  • Tip to the community

    Updated Jul 12, 2012

My sister and I were out of town and had to make copies of an important paper we had to deliver soon. We stopped at a well known copy place and were very disappointed in the service and cost. The helpers were not knowledgeable as to how to copy our order and when it was finally ready the laminating was twice as much as we pay at Village Copy. As we walked out the door, I said to my sister, “This is why we go see Brian and Lori Cook on Main Street at Village Copy.” Thank you for your great service, kind words and always rea...

  • Note to a neighbor

    Updated Jul 12, 2012

Perhaps you didn’t live here in 2003 when the fire burned within a mile of our neighborhood? Maybe you weren’t here during the horrendous fires of 2007 that destroyed so many homes in Fallbrook, some of them just down Mission from our neighborhood? If you were here, and saw the heartbreak and terror caused by wildfires, you wouldn’t shoot off bottle rockets and firecrackers and small arms in “celebration.” Your party is important and everyone wants to have a good time. Please don’t end it with a fire. Susan Nikkel...

  • Welcome to Dr. Warren

    Updated Jul 12, 2012

A warm welcome to Dr. Aimee Warren, DO. She has been the silver lining in our daughter’s knee-injury experience. Had it not been for our initial need for urgent care, we would not have met this fine physician. For follow-up on the knee, we followed Dr. Warren from the S. Main Ave. center, to her newly established practice on Elder Street. There, at the Kairin Clinic we were well-received by her fireman/paramedic husband (filling in at the front desk, and taking vitals), nurse practitioner sister, and, of course, Dr. Warren h...
