Monday's nasty fire at the Ecology Wrecking Storage facility off Airport Road in Oceanside has been knocked down and most of the smoke has dissipated, according to observations and spokesmen. Multiple agencies fought the fire, which started around 7 a.m. July 18 and included not only Oceanside, but Camp Pendleton, Vista and Carlsbad. HAZMAT and County Health also were at the scene. Two sleeping children sustained minor injuries and were transported to Children's Hospital after a truck crashed into their home at 1325 Winter Haven road in Fallbrook at 2:39 am Sunday morning. The driver and passenger of the truck were transported to Palomar Hospital with critical injuries. GOOD HOPE (CNS) - A brush fire that erupted today in a mulch pile in Good Hope burned nearly an acre before firefighters stopped it. The non-injury blaze was reported about 3:45 p.m. in the 21300 block of Sharp Road, near Main Street, just north of Highway 74, according to the Riverside County Fire Department. The agency said that multiple engine crews were sent to the location and encountered flames in a field, burning at a slow rate between roads. No homes or other structures were threatened. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in San Diego County dropped today for the 30th consecutive day, decreasing 3.9 cents to $5.936, its lowest amount since May 14. The average price has decreased 43.7 cents during the streak, including 3.8 cents Thursday, according to figures from the AAA and the Oil Price Information Service.
