  • California's economic prosperity

    American Counseling Association, AD-75|Updated Jul 20, 2018

Though California is the world’s fifth-largest economy, we must expand economic prosperity. With over 20 percent of our population living below the poverty line, we have the nation’s highest poverty rate. Our skilled labor shortage means that high-paying jobs often go unfilled and our job creation infrastructure, including career tech education, is lacking. Bi-partisan legislation, Assembly Bill 2596, will require the Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development (GoBiz) to produce an Economic Development Strat... Full story

  • Death of 1000 cuts

    Updated Jul 20, 2018

With the Brett Kavanaugh SCOTUS nomination, Trump just dealt a crippling blow to American liberalism, progressivism, socialism, communism or whatever they want to call anti-Americanism now. Darn! Reality and fact check: What Trump with his orange hair, tactless tweets, boorish behavior, etc. etc. is doing and will continue unmercifully to do to Obama’s depressing liberal “new normal” over the next 2.5 years and maybe 6.5 years is to reduce America’s national misery: one less regulation, one added point of GDP, one lower t... Full story

  • International relations in the news

    Updated Jul 20, 2018

A couple observations on the insanity gripping the political scene this week: 1) The attacks on Trump for simply meeting with Putin are absurd. Obama not only met with the Russians but told its foreign minister he “will be more flexible with them after the election.” He was referring to stripping our nuclear deterrence. He should have been impeached for that alone, but there was silence. Obama also met with numerous Islamic leaders who support and fund terrorism. Indeed, he gave billions to Iran which is now being used to... Full story

  • Carnival creates parking woes

    Updated Jul 20, 2018

I was totally surprised Thursday (July 5) when I tried to park behind the Fallbrook Art Center. There was almost zero parking available (the few spaces available were taken) as the majority of lot was taped off to serve a carnival. This was the week of temperatures well over 100 degrees (and there was) no (available) parking on Main Avenue. I’m not certain who thought of having a carnival downtown. Those of us trying to see the current art show and have lunch had to leave. One woman parked on the side of the lot to get to h... Full story

  • Is Blue Zone a money grab?

    Updated Jul 20, 2018

Are you familiar with the “Blue Zone” project that is marching forward in our community? The “Blue Zones” are a waste of taxpayer money. The Minnesota-based Blue Zones company finds communities like ours, who have a hospital district but no hospital. They toss around the term “evidence based” with no peer reviewed, double-blind or controlled studies, and cite gerrymandered communities with long-living residents as “proof.” Their process is not based upon medical science or outcome analysis – just a book by a National Geograph... Full story
