SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A FedEx truck driver pulled a man out of a burning vehicle today on southbound Interstate 15 in the Miramar area, authorities said. A black sedan crashed into a guardrail at 2:55 a.m. Wednesday and burst into flames, the California Highway Patrol reported. The FedEx driver stopped and rescued the sedan's only occupant as it was burning. The sedan driver was taken to a hospital with major injuries. The vehicle was fully engulfed in flames. At 4:49 pm tonight two cars were involved in an accident on SB I-15 near the 76 onramp. A red Jetta hit the barbed wire fence and is waiting for a tow. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - The San Diego City Council today unanimously accepted and authorized the expenditure of a $2 million state grant to support startup costs for an emergency shelter for victims of domestic violence. VISTA (CNS) - A Poway man convicted of murdering and raping a young woman in Carlsbad more than 35 years ago was sentenced today to 31 years to life in state prison. James Charles Kingery, 57, was found guilty by a Vista jury of killing 26-year-old Julia Hernandez-Santiago, whose body was found on Oct. 10, 1987 on an ivy-covered embankment on Alga Road.
