I was reading an article in USA Today concerning the approval of an Islamic cultural center and a mosque to be constructed near Ground Zero. Apparently the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission voted unanimously to deny protected historic status to a building that would be destroyed to build the Mosque and cultural center. This action by New York City officials is totally out of line with public opinion; especially those who lost loved ones on September 11, 2001. So is it the revenue the cultural center and mosque...
I would just like to say while I have these sweet memories in mind, what a wonderful time it was having my second child in Fallbrook (at Fallbrook Hospital). I was amazed seven years ago, while having my daughter, Bella, and this time, too, with my son, Gabriel. The care from all who helped us was awesome. To the Staff, I love you, Jen and Jan and we couldn’t have done it without you. All of you that helped made our stay so grand. Also, the congratulatory luncheon menu for me and “Daddy,” too, was really special. We enjoy...
On Tuesday, July 27, Robert Magana, an employee of the Fallbrook Refuse Service, stopped at my home to perform his normal duties of work. He smelled smoke and realized no one was at home. He quickly used the water hose and extinguished the fire. Due to his sense of concern and quick action, he saved my house and those of my neighbors from a terrible fire. I would like to express my extreme appreciation for his diligence for preventing a devastating fire. The character of this man is shown by the dedication he performs in his... Full story
Aren’t we all getting a little weary of the “he said; she said” letters coming from people who don’t even live in the area? Let’s get down to the bottom line! Do the 300,000+ residents of Temecula, Murrieta, Rainbow or Fallbrook want one of the largest open pit gravel mines in the United States in our communities? The answer (from the residents) is no, we don’t. It’s as simple as that. So, people, it is time to put your action where your intentions are. If you want to stop this unacceptable project, make some noise. Start... Full story
Remember at the end of the road for you is a crazy nut house or a nice clean pine box. You always should start off with a mild type of dope that soon fades away, so your provider may suggest crack or LSD. Crack will kill cells in the brain, and later you do not know who or what you are. LSD makes you think you can fly and of course you can fly, for about two seconds. It all depends on the building you want to fly off of. You will fly just about one second for every 10 floors, then you come to a very sudden stop. All us... Full story
Summer is here, and once again donations to the Fallbrook Food Pantry have dropped dramatically while demand for assistance continues to soar. We are currently helping over 600 low-income families each week. Of those we help, fifty percent are children and thirty-five percent are senior citizens. Is the recession over or not? That can be debated, but the reality is one person out of ten is unemployed. Taking that into consideration and adding the number of people who are underemployed, the demand for our help will continue...
When I think of the state of Arizona, I think of the heat and uncomfortable weather of the Mohave Desert, with little to do and see. However, Sedona, Ariz., does not fit into this category at all. The amazing backdrop to the town, along with all of the things to do and see in the community, make a trip to Sedona a fun adventure for any family. Sedona is located in Arizona’s high desert under the southwestern rim of the vast Colorado Plateau. This town is a tourist spot y...
