    ANZA - The National Weather Service warned about thunderstorms and possible flooding in portions of southern Riverside County, and heavy rain was reported today in Anza, about 35 miles southwest of Palm Springs. At 2:18 p.m., the weather service said its Doppler radar indicated a very strong storm over the mountains of southern Riverside County.   • Anza Fire Contained to Two Acres With Help of Storm

    ANZA - A vegetation fire in Anza was limited to two acres this afternoon thanks not only to the work of the firefighters, but also a timely storm that swept through the area, according to the county fire department. More than 100 firefighters were battling the blaze, which was reported at 1:39 p.m. near Chapman and Bailey roads, said fire spokeswoman Cheri Patterson.
