Update - SR 76 opened again before 12:30 pm. According to the CHP log, on eastbound 76 just east of Pala Del Norte Rd. at 10:53 a.m. this morning, a vehicle ran off the road and hit a telephone pole knocking it down on to 76. The car ended up on its roof. Both lanes of 76 are closed until the lines are cleared. SDG&E reported the lines are not live; an ATT line is also involved. The driver is reported to have minor injuries. An update will be posted when the road opens....
MENIFEE - A convicted drunken driver, whose two young children were in his Ford Explorer when he crashed the SUV in Menifee while allegedly under the influence, was released from custody today. David Carlo Engleton, 46, of Menifee was arrested Thursday afternoon following the rollover wreck near the intersection of Briggs Road and Gardner Lane. According to Riverside County sheriff's officials, Engleton lost control of the Explorer while trying to negotiate a turn, causing the SUV to overturn. Deputies arrived moments later...
HEMET - A man suspected of attempting to disarm a Hemet police officer who was arresting him for alleged check fraud was being held today in lieu of $250,000 bail. Carleton Alvin Emerich, 49, was taken into custody Thursday night after a tussle with officers in the 1200 block of Florida Avenue. According to Hemet police, an officer was sent to a check-cashing business around 5:35 p.m. to investigate reports of a man and woman attempting to cash a forged check. A house fire started early this afternoon, Friday, Aug. 29, in the 400 block of Lynden Lane off of East Mission Rd. No one was hurt but the family that lives there has been displaced. North County Fire has reported that the cause of the fire is under investigation....
