  • Dine like European royalty at Le Bistro

    Updated Sep 20, 2012

If any European royals lived in North County San Diego, I imagine they would dine, at one time or another, at Le Bistro in Fallbrook’s Jackson Square. The fare is steeped in European tradition because that is where Robert Penkava, proprietor, was schooled in the culinary arts. Continental influence is evident in the cuisine as well as the décor – fine art, soothing salmon-hued walls and the gentle hum of unobtrusive classical music. Once Le Bistro’s French doors are... Full story

  • My friend the enemy

    Updated Sep 20, 2012

One Sunday morning I preached on loving your enemies. By Sunday afternoon I was yelling at the guy who was being a jerk in the parking lot. I guess I need to go back and listen to my own message. Jesus didn’t say loving your enemies would be easy, but he did say that if we love them we would be acting as his children. He said, “Love your enemies! Do good to them. Lend to them without expecting to be repaid. Then your reward from Heaven will be very great, and you will truly be acting as children of the Most High.” (Luke...
