Our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Martha May Brewer, age 98, passed away peacefully with family at her side. She lived her life with dignity and grace before slipping quietly into the hands of the Lord. Martha lived in Fallbrook for 15 years after relocating from Colorado to be near family. Primarily a homemaker for her husband Murray who preceded her in 2002, Doris resided in Fallbrook for the past 43 years. The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California approved formal terms and conditions for the annexation of the Meadowood development area into MWD. The MWD board’s Sept. 10 approval also approved the levying of a standby charge for the Meadowood area, contingent upon completion of the annexation, of $11.51 per acre or $11.51 for a parcel less than an acre. Sukara became the first former San Luis Rey Downs horse to win a race at this year’s Fairplex Park meet. The four-year-old filly trained by Ed Freeman won the third race Sept. 7, completing the six-furlong race in 1:11.97 and finishing 1 3/4 lengths ahead of second place Warrens China Doll. “It was impressive,” Freeman said. “It was a pleasant surprise.” During the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club season, Freeman ran his top horses at Del Mar while utilizing Northern California fair meets for less competitive horses.
