Lt. Todd Richardson took charge of the Fallbrook command on Sept. 10. “Fallbrook was definitely the place I wanted to be,” said Richardson. “I raised my kids here.” Richardson served two years as unit commander of the Sheriff’s ASTREA (helicopter) and Search an... As always Mr. Monday, your comments are a treasure. As a country, are we better off than we were four years ago? Let’s see: Our president, beginning in January 2008, has presided over the following: Over 8 percent unemployment for 4 straight years An international credit downgrade last year for the first time in our history A national debt that has skyrocketed to $16T this year from $10T in 2008 Squandered $800B+ on a failed stimulus plan Mr. Frank and Mr. Dodd caused the greatest housing crisis in our history Our r...
On November 14, 2012, California’s AB32 goes into full swing with the official auction of the California Cap N Trade program that is supposedly geared to reduce California’s CO2 emissions back to 1990 levels by the year 2020. The bill signed by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger in 2006 and introduced by Senator Fabio Nunez is guaranteed to wreck havoc on the California economy costing $185 billion dollars by the year 2020 to comply with the regulations. The Cap N Trade regulation was not voted on by the people but is ins...
Millard’s claim of the 1940’s as an example of ending the Great Depression is a good one. WWII did effectively end the Great Depression. The debt to GDP ratio was only 120 percent (debt of $260 billion is still part of our $16 trillion debt) There was rationing, price controls and the top income tax rate in 1944 was a whopping 23 percent. As income taxes didn’t come close to paying the debt, people bought bonds. The government was a lot smaller then. Spending dropped off dramatically in the late 1940’s, creating the boom fr...
The use of job creation numbers in Democratic vs. Republican administrations over the last 50 years to justify the abysmal performance of our current administration is a deception. To have any meaning it is necessary to examine the circumstances of each administration. For example, nearly half of all jobs created during Democratic administrations were with Clinton. Give him credit; he was astute enough to not disrupt the dynamic economy started by Reagan. What is needed is an honest evaluation of what is happening now. And by...
Regarding Tritchka’s letter and the “honest comment” from Todd Akin concerning “legitimate rape…” Mr. Tritchka writes that information supporting Todd Akin’s statement is “readily evident in medical journals.” I would like to know which medical journals he’s referring to. Might these “journals” have been published contemporaneously with “Mrs. Beeton’s Book of Household Management?” In any present-day courtroom, the defendant, accused of rape, says, “Your Honor, I stand here accused of rape by that woman sitting in the first r...
It breaks my heart to witness the stupidity and lack of common sense running rampant in this country today. The lack of responsibility with money and credit has become criminal. Go ahead, renegotiate that credit card. Why take responsibility for spending beyond your means? Our own leaders are doing it. It’s become a game. Romney’s remark about how almost half the people living here don’t pay taxes causes outrage. He said he’s not going to try to change their minds about whom they are going to vote for. Of course they are goi...
