While looking for a new location in southern California, a friend of a friend directed him to Fallbrook. “It was a fortuitous find,” he said. Here he discovered the Art Campus at Fallbrook, a full-service sculptural facility with a foundry and...

During the fall my thoughts always return to the days of when I taught cooking. First in was at established cooking schools and then later at my own endeavor: Judith Bell’s Cooking Kitchen. What fun! Wonderful delicious recipes that fill several three-ring binders remain as a tangible heritage. From time to time I take those binders from the shelves. Leisurely I page through them. Can you believe that I actually “taste” the recipes as I read them? I also remember with gratitude the wonderful people who filled those class... Full story
Memorabilia abounds at the Lawrence Welk Museum at the Welk Resort. Photographs of Welk as Grand Marshal of the Rose Parade in 1972, three gold records and the largest champagne glass I’ve ever seen. In this age of the increasingly sun-obsessed, most people have come to grips with the fact that, come summertime, sunscreen is as much a part of their lives as barbecues and weekends at the beach. Unfortunately, it’s all too typical for the notion of protecting your skin to vanish once the temperatures dip and the kids go back to school. But as many dermatologists will tell you, just because Labor Day has come and gone that doesn’t mean the responsibility of taking care of your skin is gone, too. As the seasons change fro...
