  • Pedestrian killed near U.S. Naval Weapons Gate in Fallbrook

    FALLBROOK - A pedestrian was killed Saturday night on a road near the Fallbrook gate of the U.S. Naval Weapons Station. The crash was reported at 9:12 p.m. at 575 Ammunition Road, according to the California Highway Patrol. According to NCFPD PIO John Choi, "It was an adult male with a bicycle. He was struck by a small sedan. When crews arrived on the scene he was in full CPR status and succumbed to his injuries from traumatic arrest." His identity hasn't been released at this time.   • Gopher Canyon fire posed not threat to Bonsall homes

    There is a fire burning at 4650 Gopher Canyon. An outbuilding was completely engulfed and spread into a vegetation fire. According to NCFPD PIO John Choi the fire is about a quarter acre. It is a Cal Fire incident, but North County Fire Protection District is assisting, as well as Vista, Oceanside, Deer Springs and water tenders."     A garage fire was reported at 4:25 pm today at 3408 Fairview Ln and Evergreen Lane.     Another collision happened this morning, Sat., at 11:59 am in front of 1625 S. Mission Rd. Two vehicles were involved. A driver had minor injuries and chest pains but was not transported to a hospital. Both vehicles had moderate damage and had to be towed. One vehicle was partially blocking the sidewalk, the Garden Center Cafe parking lot, and a southbound Mission Rd. lane. The other vehicle was blocking one S. Mission northbound lane.     A collision was reported today, Sunday, at 2:97 pm on Fallbrook Street and Potter. A black Honda vs a white Nissan. According to NCFPD John Choi, both cars ended up on the sidewalk and there was one minor injury, however, no one was transported.     HUNTINGTON BEACH - A 126,000-gallon oil spill from an offshore rig was causing major ecological damage in the waters off Huntington Beach today, as officials closed the area to beachgoers and canceled the final day of the Pacific Airshow.
