FALLBROOK – Boys & Girls Clubs of North County kicked off its annual fundraiser, Great Futures Campaign (formally known as Step up to the Plate Campaign) on Sept. 29. Elijah Roque, Connor Froboese, and Sam Comerford continue to lead the Fallbrook High School boys cross-country team. The three earned medals at the Sept. 22 Dana Hills Invitational meet whose competitors included 21 Fallbrook boys. Fallbrook High School’s boys water polo team won two games and lost three during America’s Finest Tournament competition Sept. 21 to 22. “We did all right. It’s a very competitive tournament,” said Fallbrook coach Bill Richardson. The official finishes in the tournament are based on brackets after each round of play rather than on overall record. Fallbrook’s wins in the second and fifth rounds placed the Warriors 23rd among the 32 teams. Last year the Warriors won only their final game in the tournament to take 31st place.... Full story

William E. Wilson Jr., born June 17, 1927, died Sept. 14, 2012. A long-time San Diego County Sheriff’s reservist, Bill Wilson at times worked out of the Sheriff’s Fallbrook substation. Bill was a Fallbrook resident when he retired from the U.S. Marine Corps in 1972.
