    On October 2, 2021, the world lost a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend when Kathryn Kopitzke of Fallbrook passed away peacefully in her sleep. She was 94 years old. Kathryn was born and raised in Anaheim where she met her future husband, Vern Kopitzke, at Anaheim Union High School, however the romance did not blossom until after graduation.   • Expanded traffic collision reported, vehicle on it's side blocking traffic

    An expanded traffic collision between two vehicles has been reported at 2:45 pm on SR 76 and Thoroughbred. CHP is reporting that one car is "perpendicular blocking two lanes". People are reporting from the scene that a black SUV is overturned and bystanders are helping to get the driver and children out of the vehicle. This is early version information.     VALLEY CENTER - The body of a 68-year-old Valley Center woman was recovered today from the Colorado River, less than a week after her husband drowned in the same waters. Suzan Weaver's body was located at 1:19 p.m., according to the Mohave County Sheriff's Office.   • NCFPD and SDGE respond to 'broken and blowing' gas line

    NCFPD was dispatched to a broken and blowing natural gas line at 183 Via Floresta in Fallbrook at 3:07 pm. As SDG&E arrived, North County Fire set up a perimeter monitor to detect dangerous gas in the air. According to NCFPD PIO John Choi, there were two homes that needed to be evacuated. Once the gas line was secured the fire department went back into those two homes, checked for any dangerous gases, and repopulated the homes.
